The Maui Cookie Lady (MCL) creates distinctive, gourmet cookies featuring the tropical flavors of Hawaii. Started as a fundraiser at a Maui farmers market, the cookies are now sold at her tiny fairytale sweet shop in historic Makawao Town on the island of Maui.
She is also carried at the Waldorf Astoria Grand Wailea Hotel and ships nation-wide from Maui on her website.

Inspiration.
The Maui Cookie Lady ‘s traces her origins to a labor of love-as a fundraiser for the ICU nurses, who cared for her terminally ill father. A long time cookie enthusiast and school teacher, founder Mitzi Toro, baked the sweet artisan treats as a way to say mahalo “thank you” for the nurses and once the campaign was over, she continued. The delicious colossal cookies became an instant hit. She turned in her teacher’s hat for a baker’s cap. This is truly the American Dream of a schoolteacher turned Cookie-prenuer.
Giving Back-
Continual Food Drive- TMCL offers a discount at her shop for donation of canned goods to feed the community
MSSS “Maui School Slippah Solace” TMCL started a campaign to collect flip flops for our Maui County Public Schools in 2019 with a goal to get one case of slippahs to each public school on all three Maui County islands. She reached that goal quickly and is now on round three of shipping slippahs. As of Jan, 2022 MCL has donated over 8500 flip flops
Maui Fire Storm Donations- TMCL donates 10% proceeds to help feed 500 fire victims, volunteers and 1st responders in a partnership with Chef Zach Sato of Havens.
Next Steps.
TMCL is also expanding the product line in partnership with University of Hawaii - Maui Food Innovation Center to include “cookie butters” featuring our popular tropical cookie flavors (a major product line extension into fast-growing innovative niche). We hope to be the first cookie butters from Hawaii and excited to feature locally grown tropical cookie butters nation-wide utilizing beautiful Hawaii agriculture.

She has worked six years on developing tropical cookie butters and hopes to have to shelf by Christmas of 2022.
In 2021 she reached many new food innovation milestones- she developed tropical melt-a-way candies in the flavors of Mango Mint, Lilikoi (passion fruit) and her favorite “Coco Nutty” with notes of caramel and macadamia nut. This is the classic butter mint candy with a local twist. She also rolled out small batch artisan lemonades in regular and strawberry sold at her shop in ecofriendly bottles with three simple ingredients.
